Waiting for rain - print

£135.00

From an edition limited to 50 prints in each size, available as 45cm (18”) square.

Fine art print on archival paper of a Welsh Marches landscape painting by Helen Arthur.

High summer and it’s been days since we saw any rain. The fields turn a golden-grey with grass seed and the hillside turns blue in the hazy light. The promise of rain is in the air, as the clouds build against blue skies and the dry spell will break.

I worked over an old painting here so there was plenty of texture on the board to get me going. I used a palette knife to layer on oil paint mixed with cold wax then scratched into areas of green to suggest movement. I think I’ve even gestured towards some buildings in this piece, which is very unlike me, with the hints of red in among the dark blue and turquoise.

  • limited edition print on archival quality paper – find out all about the process that guarantees quality

  • from a painting in oil and cold wax on board

  • mounted print, signed and editioned by Helen

  • contact Helen for a quotation to ship overseas
